One day a BW Gas ship picked up a small kitten drifting around on a plank from a foundered ship in the Indian Ocean. With his orange fur, he was easy to spot. Lucky for him! Since he took such good care of his ship mates, he was named Buddy. He climbed the ranks from mascot to 1st ship's cat faster than he could catch the mice onboard. Now, as a pensioned ship's cat he prefers the easier jobs, but he is still observant and has an eye for everything that is going on. He always helps out whenever he sees that things might go wrong. Buddy really enjoys sailing on BW Gas vessels. He feels restless on land, preferring the life at sea and the opportunity to visit distant ports in exotic lands. He speaks a language everyone understands and he seldom makes any compromises. He is not afraid to voice his opinion to his shipmates, regardless of their rank, nationality or seniority. He even knows his TQM, and will quote it whenever he thinks it is necessary. Like all cats, he has nine lives. He might have lost some of them during his long career at sea, but he is still going strong, always ending discussions over safety issues with "... cos you ain't got nine lives, buddy!" During all the years of sailing with BW Gas, Buddy has been around the world several times, from Narvik in the north to Geelong in the south. But he is not ready to stop sailing any time soon - he is looking for another good BW Gas vessel to visit.
