Dr Helmut Sohmen

Helmut Sohmen, Chairman, born 1939, has been the Chairman of BW Gas since 2003. He has been an executive and board member of companies within the family-owned former World-Wide Shipping group since 1970, and chairman since 1986.  He was previously a president of the Baltic and International  Maritime Council, Chairman of the International Maritime Industries Forum, Chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, Chairman of The Internatioanl Tanker Owners Pollution Federation, and served as a committee member of several P+I Clubs. He holds three law degrees from Austrian and American universities and two honorary doctorates.

Andreas Sohmen-Pao

Andreas Sohmen-Pao, Vice-Chairman, born 1971, has served as Vice Chairman of BW Gas since 2003. He is Managing Director of BW Shipping and is also a member of the Advisory Board of Deutsche Bank (SHL). Sohmen-Pao holds a double first class honours degree from Oxford University and an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School.

 

Knut Brundtland

Knut Brundtland practiced as a lawyer with Advokatfirma BA-HR where he became a partner in 1993, until January 2005. He now acts as a professional company Director and has been the Chairman of Bluewater Insurance ASA since 2002. Brundtland is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of various companies such as Creditsafe Business Information n.V., Futuris Asset Management AB, Try Reklamebyrå AS, Contopronto AS, Youngstorvet Eiendom AS, VOSS of Norway ASA, Sealbat AS and ContextVision AB. He is also member of the Board of Directors of Norgani ASA, Revus ASA, LeasePlan Norway AS, Thomas Fearnley, Heddy and Niels Astrup Foundation, Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art and the Office for Contemporary Art in Norway. He has a law degree from the University of Oslo.

 

Clare M. J. Spottiswoode

Clare M. J. Spottiswoode started her career as an economist with the Her Majesty's Treasury in the United Kingdom, before establishing her own software company in 1984. Between 1993 and 1998, she was Director General of Ofgas, the independent regulatory office for gas in UK, served as a member of the Government's Deregulation Task Force in 1993, and the Public Services Productivity Panel in 1998. She is currently a Chairman of Ecomatters Limited and Deputy Chairman at British Energy. She is also currently a non-executive Director of Tullow Oil plc, BioFuels and Petroleum Geo-Services. Spottiswoode holds an MA degree (Mathematics and Economics) from Cambridge University and an M.Phil degree in Economics from Yale University.

 

Kathryn Baker

Kathryn Baker, Member, born 1964, joined Reiten & Co in 1999 as a partner. She currently leads the investments in Heimstaden and Euroskilt where she is the Chairman of the Board of Directors in both companies and has the lead role in Factor Insurance Group, where she is also a member of the Board of Directors. She is also the fund manager for Reiten & Co Capital Partners V. Prior to joining Reiten & Co, she acted as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co (1993-1999). Baker was a financial analyst at Morgan Stanley & Co (1987-1988), and an investor relations account executive at Noonan/Russo Communications, in New York (1989-2001). She holds a BS in Economics from Wellesley College and an MBA from The Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Darthmouth College.
