A main goal for BW Gas is to maintain a high environmental standard. Environmental protection is therefore an integral part of the company's Total Quality Management system.

It is the company’s environmental policy:

• To prevent and minimise pollution, reduce the amount of waste and consumption of resources such as materials, fuels and energy. Spills are not tolerated, if they do occur, the vessels’ own crew is prepared and able to handle small spills with the equipment provided on board. If larger spills should occur, the company employs resources outside the company necessary to handle the situation
• To continuously ensure that national and international environmental protection regulations are met. In addition, consider solutions that exceed the legal minimum requirements and by that, setting our own standards.

We strive to maintain and improve the company’s environmental management program by:

• Developing and maintaining measuring techniques, indicators and procedures for the prevention of pollution
• Making sure that risk reducing measures such as procedures, data sheets, protective equipment, etc. are easy accessible for all staff
• Continuously improving the knowledge of our environmental impact and the company’s environmental management program
• Reporting, investigating and analysing environmental accidents and near accidents with the objective of continual improvement
• Being as open as possible when it comes to environmental issues, and contribute and co-operate with authorities, national and international, with information and solutions regarding environmental matters
• Monitoring the safety and environmental aspects of materials supplied to the vessels, and see to that relevant product information is supplied with the material
• Following the Industry Code of Practice on Ship Recycling and minimising the amount of potential hazardous materials on board the ship upon delivery.

With this policy, BW Gas wishes to create a foundation for reducing the company’s environmental impact, and thereby be recognised as competitive and future-oriented.
