Environmental policy

Maritime transportation generates pollution to air and sea, and the company has recognised its negative influence on the environment. Environmental protection is therefore a focus area.

It is recognised that environmental protection is a management responsibility. Our main objective for the company is to maintain a high environmental standard. Environmental protection is therefore an integral part of the company's Total Quality Management system.

It is the company’s environmental policy:

  • To prevent and minimise pollution, reduce the amount of waste and consumption of resources such as materials, fuels and energy. Spills are not tolerated, if they do occur, the vessels’ own crew shall be prepared and able to handle small spills with the equipment provided onboard. If larger spills should occur, the company shall employ resources outside the company necessary to handle the situation.
  • To ensure that national and international environmental protection regulations are met. In addition, consider solutions that exceed the legal minimum requirements and by that, setting our own standards.
  • The company is committed to work towards continual improvement of the company's environmental performance and prevent pollution. This will be achieved by:

    • Reporting and analysing environmental accidents, near miss (accidents), non-conformities and potential risks.

    • Continuosly updating and improving our management system.

    • Making sure that risk reducing measures such as procedures, data sheets, protective equipment, etc. are easily accessible for all staff.

    • Continuously improving our knowledge of the company's environmental impact.

    • Deciding and reviewing environmental objectives and targets through the formal annual management review process and making this policy publicly available.

As a part of our environmental management and continual business improvement philosophy, we put particular focus on following environmental aspects:

  • Chemical management
  • Emissions to air
  • Use of ozone depleting gases
  • Garbage management
  • Use of paper and energy in our organisation
  • Ballast water
  • Recycling of vessels
  • Asbestos
  • Anti-fouling

With this policy, the company wishes to create a foundation for reducing its future environmental impact, and thereby be recognised as competitive and future-oriented. The managing director is responsible for ensuring that the policy is met in reality.
