BW Gas applies its maritime experience to bring energy to world markets. Our vision is to create the leading brand in delivering energy, serving customers with wide-ranging marine solutions across the energy value chain.
BW Gas is the leading global provider of gas marine transportation services with commercial responsibility for 45 vessels. It is the largest owner and operator of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) carriers and one of the largest independent owners and operators of LNG (liquefied natural gas) carriers.
The Oslo-based BW Gas office houses the following activities under the BW Group:
• Ship management (BW Fleet Management)
• LNG commercial & operations (BW Shipping)
• Gas and power projects (BW Ventures)
• Shared corporate services (BW Maritime)
Since 2000, BW Gas has been a leading player within the LNG segment of gas transportation. All the LNG vessels that BW Gas owns or partly owns operate under long-term time charters of about 20 years. Under these time charters, the company hires the vessel to the customer at an agreed rate for an agreed period and remains responsible for the technical management of the vessel.
LPG and LNG carriers are sophisticated vessels that demand competent crew and high-quality operations. BW Gas policy dictates a high and stable standard of maintenance regardless of short-term changes in the freight market, which means that the company can offer a more reliable service to customers. Our vessels have fewer unexpected repairs and less off-hire than competitors', thereby maximising the value of each vessel.
Staff strength at BW Gas and BW Fleet Management stands at around 1,600 people globally, with about 120 employed at the office in Oslo, Norway. The combination of a strong financial position, vast experience and in-depth maritime expertise makes BW Gas an attractive business partner for both new and existing customers.
